Issue Position: Clean Energy and Consumer Protection

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

I have spent my career fighting for access to clean, advanced energy and would continue to do so in the Legislature. Massachusetts faces dual looming crises: meeting our electricity demand in the face of closing assets all while combating the effect of climate change. I would fight against building out additional pipelines infrastructure and instead work to pass legislation to increase our use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy storage to provide power at peak periods.

At the same time, the Legislature has a responsibility to protect consumers from massive rate hikes in energy and water, two vital necessities. I would work with the Department of Public Utilities and the Attorney General's office to ensure that our utilities are using fair, performance-based rate structures that benefit all consumers.
